How many awards is too many? The people behind the Nissan LEAF will let you know when they find out. Nissan’s innovative electric hatch recently picked up the gong for Electric Vehicle of the Year for 2011 at the GreenFleet Awards in Europe.
That award will sit alongside the 2011 European Car of the Year award, the 2010 Green Car Vision prize, the 2011 World Car of the Year honours, and a long list of others. The mantelpiece at LEAF HQ must have some serious reinforcement.
GreenFleet’s Colin Boyton said that the LEAF was a clear winner.
“With five-door practicality, a generous boot, a high level of spec, and most importantly, a 110 mile range, the Nissan LEAF is the resounding choice this year,” he said. “Add to that the take-up in fleets, from all over the UK, and it certainly means the Nissan LEAF is now the market leader, and will continue to make in-roads into fleets looking to embrace EV technology.”
Barry Beeston, Nissan Motor GB’s fleet sales director, said:
“A growing number of fleets are beginning to switch on to how Nissan LEAF can provide drivers with a good combination of everyday practicality and zero emissions when in use.”
It’s not just fleets that are taking to the LEAF however – it’s also proving a popular choice with everyday buyers looking to reduce the impact of their motoring upon the planet. A specialist dealer such as New Nissan Leaf can have you on the road, electric-style, in no time.
