MONTHLY UPDATE FROM THE GARVAGHY ROAD

In the period from July 5, 1998 to present, over 170 Orange demonstrations, the vast majority of which have been illegal, have been held in Portadown. During this period, Catholic homes and businesses have been attacked, burned and bombed. Catholic citizens have been assaulted, threatened and abused. Five people have been murdered as a result of pro-Orange violence since July.

A further fifty demonstrations are planned for the town between now and July.

The Orange campaign of terror and intimidation against Portadown's Catholic and Nationalist minority continues in contravention of the Good Friday Agreement .
