PRESS RELEASE FROM THE GARVAGHY ROAD RESIDENTS COALITION

"Blair’s comments are an insult to the Garvaghy Road Residents" -- Mac Cionnaith

12:30 Local Time

Breandan Mac Cionnaith, of the Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition, has branded British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s comments that the activities of the Orange Order have been a "responsible" attempt to resolve the situation as being a calculated insult to the residents of the Garvaghy Road. The Orange Order have been in contempt of the Parades Commission’s ruling since Sunday, and from their encampment at Drumcree, by their comments and actions have created chaos throughout the six counties.

If these are the "responsible" efforts by the Orange Order to resolve this situation, accommodation is still only a distant hope.

Is Tony Blair going to capitulate to the Orange Order every time they up their ante? If his meeting with Orange Order leaders is not to review the decision of the Parades Commission, what is its purpose?
